Most parents gets to see amazing things. When you see your child walk for the first time, it’s amazing. When a child wins a big game during a sports meet with lots of people watching that is amazing. Having a child graduate at the top of their class in either High School or College is amazing. Teaching your child to drive, and watching them come out of the DMV with a huge smile on their face as they hold their paper saying they passed, that is also amazing. And of course when you are walking your daughter down the aisle about to give her to the love of her life that is amazing. That amazing moment is usually followed up with becoming a grandparent and that is truly amazing.
Well today I got to witness the greatest thing a parent could see. I know I have prayed for this day to come along. I am two for two. Today my youngest got baptized.
This journey started when she was born and we brought her up to know that we love Jesus.
- We taught her how to pray, we prayed every day at bed time. We prayed every time there was a need and every time we ate and gave thanks.
- We showed her that we were dedicated to a body of believers and took her to church nearly every single Sunday. We had Christian friends fellowshipped with them and their children.
- We showed through example on how it was like to follow Gods word as best as we could and when we slipped we prayed for forgiveness in front of her
There is nothing I want more from my children than for them to have eternal life. And all three of mine have started off on the right foot. Michelle was baptized while I was deployed and still is a believer. Kenneth is already in heaven, and now Morgan has taken the first step of an amazing journey.
Her journey started a couple of months ago when we told her that we were moving to Texas. She thought about it and said that she would like to get baptized in the only church she has known and asked to be baptized by our neighbor and great friend.
I was a nervous father, cameras in hand and a dry throat. I was lost in the moment and the still camera was never used. I did have the video tape going and you can watch it. She was asked if she believed that Jesus died for her sins and rose again, and that it was her desire to follow Jesus and she excitedly said yes to both. Then she was baptized. I couldn't stop smiling. I was soooooo proud of her.

So when I read this verse above, I can totally relate. I have no greater joy, especially when it is my child who is walking in the truth. Thank you God.
Lord, I am blessed so much and deserve so little. Thank you for helping me through the first 8 years of Morgan’s life. Lord I ask you to continue to use me to help her learn and grow closer to you. Use me! In Jesus name I pray.
