Let God be Your GPS

For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill His good purpose. – Philippians 2:13

When we follow God we should not do it for our purpose, but His. And when following God we need to listen to where he wants us. We all need guiding! When we rely on ourselves to navigate through life we usually end up lost and heading down the wrong path. Even when we are lost, we still continue to roam around without asking for help (at least guys anyways). It seems we only turn to God when we are totally lost, instead of at the beginning of the journey.

Self-reliance is a manly trait but we are not designed to walk alone. We can have many tools to help us find our way, such as Compass, GPS, friends and family. What we need the most is God and He will always be there for us.

My friend Matt use to make the analogy, “God is like the car GPS” trying to guide us. A lot of times we ignore our GPS, just like we ignore God and both are very patient and just say recalculating trying to get us back on track. God guides us with the destination in mind, and although we would like to think it is going to be the easy way, that is not always God’s plan. Molding us along the journey so you are more like Him on that final path is God’s amazing strategy. Also the plan isn’t always about you but God’s will.

Three steps to follow God’s guidance for “His Good purpose”

Step 1. Pray and ask for guidance.

Step 2. Listen and follow God’s guidance. (we can set the destination in the GPS but it does not mean we will listen and follow it.)

Step 3. Pray and thank him for the guidance.

Lord, I humbly ask you to use me for your work, please guide me and mold me along the way. I ask that I have a good attitude as you direct my feet down different paths. I pray that I am used in amazing ways to with the wonderful gifts you gave to me. -Amen
