Our Hope for the Future

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

This verse has really helped me throughout life and especially this last year, which turned out to be one of the hardest ever. So many times I was discouraged and depressed, wondering how I was ever going to make it, where my life was going and if I was going to be okay. I would lose sight of the hope that Christ gives me.

Why? Why I would struggle with putting my faith in Him when He has proven time and again that He is here watching over me and taking care of me? I honestly have no idea, but it happens and I am sure I am not the only one.

What I need to remember instead, is that with Him, I don't have to worry about my plans for the future, if I am going to make it, where I will go from here or how I will get there. God already has those plans in mind. He knows what my future holds and He assures me that it will be alright.

So often we (or at least I) forget that and get so stressed and beaten down in thinking of all that can go wrong, but in doing so we miss out on all the blessings and what is going right. Just as this verse has helped me this past year, I pray that it will help me again in this new year. And not just me, but you as well, and the entire world.

I pray that we remember that He knows our plans for our lives already, all of them and not to worry. He will take care of us, He will protect us, and He will give us hope.... for today, for tomorrow, and always. This year let us not stress about the "What, Where, When, Why and How" of our lives, but trust in our Lord and Savior to give us hope for the future.

  1. Wow what a great verse. We all could use that verse. I am amazed at what you have gone through and yet you still praise him in the storm. Well done faithful servant.
